The Hive Food Park Cagayan de Oro Gives Kagay-anons A New Venue For Munchtripping

December 21, 2018

The Hive CDO or The Hive Food Park Cagayan de Oro had given Kagay-anons and Cagayan de Oro tourists another reason to enjoy food in a new venue.

This is not a sponsored post.

This recent food market or outdoor food court is located in Rosario Arcade, Limketkai Center. It opens at 5PM.

I visited this food market during its second month of opening. It had a nice variety of food available through the different stalls owned by different establishments.

Below are a few photos taken from the food place itself.

My favorite thing about this food market is the fact that there are clean bathrooms for customers. I hope they maintain this.

MunchTrip - A Choice Where To Eat In Manila Buffet-style (Sambo Kojin)

December 02, 2018
There are simply too many choices around for food in Manila. If we want to celebrate an occasion or a holiday, we like to go to one place where there are many dishes to choose from, Manila buffets like Sambo Kojin are a good place to go to.

(This is not a sponsored post.)

Here you get different cuisine choices, Japanese Yakiniku, Korean Barbecue, and more. They were all colorful and inviting.

Rates as of September 2018 were 738 Ph pesos (Tuesday lunch), but one of us was having a birthday. My friend ate for free! 😁

Save space for dessert because they have so many choices!

If ever you go to Sambo Kojin, go earlier than 12nn (for lunch) or 6pm (for dinner) to avoid being placed on the waiting list.

That’s it!

No-Mayonnaise Sweet Mustard Dip (No-Egg Honey Mustard Dip substitute)

November 26, 2018
We found ourselves needing Honey Mustard Dip once for our Homemade Chicken Cordon Bleu, but we did not have any mayonnaise or honey. This was when I gave birth to this dip recipe.

This was much like an “improv that went great” kind of recipe. It was a sketch that ended up what it was intended to be. Remembering the taste profile of the dip was all I used to guide me. Nonetheless, it tasted great and so I share it here in the blog as well.

MunchTrip's Sweet Mustard Dip recipe

INGREDIENTS:
1 tsp mustard (McCormick mustard)
1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar (BRAGGS brand)
1 tsp white sugar

PROCEDURE:
1. Mix everything in a dipping bowl or saucer.

Done!
Wasn’t that simple? Yet, it had the tang, and sweetness still that we like about the dip. It works for us, how did it work for you?

It was perfect for our Homemade Chicken Cordon Bleu recipe here.

Drooling Is Permitted On Saturdays - Salcedo Community Market Makati Philippines

April 08, 2017
Succulents, Saikoro Beef, Gyouza, Grilled Fish, Baos on Crack, Churros con Chocolate, and Fresh Vege in Makati City
I have been to Salcedo Community Market, aka Salcedo Saturday Market three times.  Although my favourites are over my budget (when I try to buy 'em all, haha), I still go around this (technically half a) weekend market with enthusiasm and activated taste buds.

WHAT IS A WEEKEND MARKET?
Merchants of food cooked and raw gather in an area to share their specialties.  Here, you can find food hobbyists, foodies with sidelines sharing their specialties, food businesses small and big, heirs of family recipes, makers of delicious treats, to harvesters of priced produce.

Weekend markets are a nice must-do alternative to theme parks or the mall when travelling because food are homemade and sometimes filled with lots of cultural influences.

In this case, Salcedo Community Market pops up in Salcedo Village, Makati City, Philippines and is only available only on Saturdays.  For Directions, refer to the bottom of this post.

Add this to your "Makati food" or "Weekend in Manila" itinerary.

Here are my personal favourites available at the Salcedo Saturday Market:

Unique food
Saikoro Beef.  Bao's on Crack.

I have never tried nor heard of these before my sister ordered them on the third time I visited.  Pricey? Yes.  Worth it? Hmmmyes.

Filipinop Traditional Food (Tapa, Pork Barbecue)
For a person who is not too adventurous, like my mom, Filipino food staples such as the
Filipino Tradition silog star Tapa, Barbecue, Sinugbang Isda (grilled fish),  and even sarsa viands (mechado, adobo, afritada) can also be found here.

Yummy For Shares

One can find Churros con Chocolate, just beside the Suki-Gyouza.

Green + Flowers + Succulents
Mama likes plants and surprise, one end of the inner circle in the weekend market has them.  Bring one home or for your desk.

Fresh Air for free
The location is a nice parking lot surrounded by big trees.  Visiting the Salcedo Saturday Market is a treat alone because of this.

No funk
I noticed that the market did not have wreck of the foul smell of garbage.  I found out that garbage cans are cleared out at certain schedules religiously. Nice job!

Bonus Finds
There are also raw goods around though I have not bought any from there.
Gulay, bulad/tuyo, ugbp.  (translation: Vegetables, dried fish, and etc.)

TIPS
A person just looking for a decent lunch on a Saturday need to prepare 100-200 PH Pesos.
Curious foodies might need to prepare at least 400 PH Pesos. Bring friends to share the portions and the cost so you can try more. 😊

HOW TO GET TO SALCEDO VILLAGE MAKATI
Salcedo Village pops up every Saturday from 6am to 2pm.

In Google Maps, it is officially labeled as "Salcedo Saturday Market".

That's it.

On to my next munchtrip.

Catch ya later, fellow munchters.

Shoni.
