Motorela Ride Is Among Unique Modes of Transportation You Must Try inCagayan de Oro

MOTORELA RIDE
The motorela is a four-wheeled public vehicle in Cagayan de Oro that can carry up to nine persons including the driver.  It is a caritela (a smaller kalesa) with a motor bicycle instead of a
horse in front.

This was designed by Mr. Rafael D. Floirendo, Sr. in 1964.*

*As per JC Salon, my friend and reliable Kagay-anon History resource.

BQFC Best of CDO Food Tour: 3rd out of 6 Features
We rode on a motorela as part of the food tour.  From Centrio, we rode all the way to Limketkai, Gaston Park, and Boy Zugba.

Traffic was not the best.  But at least, the closed design of the motorela forces people to be close enough to have conversations.

Interesting question:
Could the motorela contributed to the reputation of Kagay-anons as "friendly"?

TIP:
For tourists, not all places in Cagayan de Oro are accessible via motorela.  So do make sure to know where you are going and what mode of transportations can access your destination.

TRIVIA:
Motorela rides are the most inexpensive mode of transportation I have ever experienced during my travels.
